COVID-19 Update

Posted by on April 6, 2020

These are challenging times. The coronavirus pandemic is changing almost every aspect of our lives. Emotions and fear are running high. Yet, at this moment, we must all try to stay informed, safe and take every precaution we can to save ourselves and those around us from this nasty disease.

In times like these, a few of the Core Values that Steven’s Hope has as an organization seem to be more appropriate than ever.

  1. With Faith Everything Is Possible
  2. Embrace Hope
  3. Cherish Family
  4. Be Responsible for Each Other
  5. Treat Everyone With Respect

At Steven’s Hope, we are taking steps to keep our staff, volunteers and families as safe as possible.  Currently, our office is closed and the staff and volunteers are working remotely.  Families are still in our apartments, trying to limit contact and exposure to the outside world. Yet, we still need to support them in every way we can.

Fundraising events and other in-person gatherings though June 30 have been cancelled or rescheduled.  The St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser with El Torito was cancelled.  The Drives to Save Lives Golf Classic originally scheduled for May 4 has been rescheduled to July 13. The night at the ballpark, scheduled for July 3, will most likely be canceled as there is currently no professional sports being played. Other activities, like Family Days, have been cancelled until further notice.

As you can imagine, this pandemic has had a negative financial impact on Steven’s Hope.  If you are able to make a financial contribution online, please follow this link to make a donation. In the next few days, there will be more announcements coming about how you can support Steven’s Hope for Children to continue its programs and operations.

While there are very severe repercussions of this pandemic taking place, use this time to Make Ripples. Spend time with your family, play a board game, connect with a friend with an online chat that you never got a chance to do.  Get that “Honey Do List” done. Try a new recipe. Read a book. Spend time in the Bible. Create good memories that can last a lifetime.

Our thoughts, prayers and hope go out to each of you.
