The WAY Project (Wonderland All Year)

Steven’s Hope helps a lot of families each year, especially during the holidays.  The support families receive at the end of the year is amazing.  But, Steven’s Hope realized that many families struggle throughout the year just making ends meet.  It’s not from a lack of trying, or effort – the situation is extremely challenging financially.

To help families deal with these challenges, The Wonderland All Year, or WAY Project was created to keep the joy and support of the Christmas season alive throughout the year.  Selected families receive a distribution of gift cards each month to help offset expenses. Gift cards for $100 in groceries, $100 in gasoline and $100 of clothing for their children at the Children’s Boutiques at Steven’s Hope come every month to make life a little bit easier.

While that might be enough for most, for Steven’s Hope, it wasn’t.

On each child’s birthday (the sick child and all the siblings), a small gift or gift card is sent to celebrate.  Families are invited to join in on the fun at Family Day four times per year for shopping at the Children’s Boutiques at Steven’s Hope including making crafts, playing games, and having tasty snacks. Each school age child receives a back pack stuffed with school supplies preparing them for a new school year. There’s the turkey dinner for the family at Thanksgiving, complete with all the trimmings.  And, of course, Winter Wonderland!  The family is invited to come to the Steven’s Hope Christmas Party with food, presents, toys, games, crafts and our old friend, Santa.

The total benefit to each family varies but is around $5,000 to $6,000 per family.  That’s a huge weight to lift from a parent.  Most of all, it helps the family get some stability, knowing that food and gas and clothing is coming.  That’s the WAY.
