Phil Hakopian – Chairman of the Board

Phil Hakopian started his insurance career in 1988 and has been helping clients protect what is important to them for over 25 years. Aside from serving as the 2018 Chairman for Steven’s Hope, he has also served on many boards including CAI, Community Association Institute, the WIAA, Western Insurance Agents Association where he served for 7 years and as President from 2009 thru 2010.  In 2013 Phil and Cornerstone received the Small Business Faith through Works Award from SBA. Phil is an avid Mountain and Road bicycle rider, He loves the outdoors and 4 wheels with a group from his local church, Hillside Community. In his spare time you’ll find him spending time with his wife Allison and their 2 Children and their spouses and don’t forget their 4 Grandchildren. 

 

Tony Cappelli – President, Executive Director

Tony Cappelli, a co-founder of Steven’s Hope for Children,  has served as President and Executive Director since its inception. He spent over twenty years in the mortgage industry, served on the Board of Directors for the Building Industry Association and as President of the Inland Empire Sales and Marketing Council (1996).  Tony is married to Sandy Cappelli and they have two children, Nicolas and Alexa, who was on Season 14 of The Voice as a member of Team Kelly.  His hobbies include spending time with his family, making videos and playing golf.

 

Sandy Cappelli – Vice President, Programs/Operations Director

Sandy Cappelli is co founder of Steven’s Hope for Children and has been on the Board of Directors since 2002. She has a Masters Degree in Business and has owned her own insurance agency since 1993. She is currently Vice President and Director of Operations of Steven’s Hope for Children. It was her experience as a mother that led to the formation of Steven’s Hope. She has also written a book, “Because of a Promise” about her journey with Steven, the inspiration behind Steven’s Hope for Children.

 

 

Johnny Scharnweber – Treasurer, Director

Johnny is the founder of Ringo Financial & Insurance Solutions, LLC which helps business owners understand and manage risk associated with employee benefits and retirement savings. Having served two terms as President of the Inland Empire Association of Health Underwriters, he continues to serve on their Board of Directors. Johnny joined the board in 2015 and is proud to serve as an Associate Board Member for Steven’s Hope for Children.

 

 

Andy Nguyen – Secretary

Andy Nguyen joined Associate Board in 2015 after being inspired at the There Is Hope  Luncheon. In 2017, he became a Director and now serves as Secretary. Andy is the founder and principal attorney at Nguyen Law Group, focusing his practice on assisting individuals and families with their personal finances, mainly in the areas of estate planning and bankruptcy. Nguyen Law Group has offices in Rancho Cucamonga and Mission Viejo. He is married to Clare Lucich and has six rescue animals at home–4 cats and 2 dogs.

 

 

Jason Sgrignoli – Immediate Past President

Jason J. Sgrignoli has been on the Board of Directors since 2013 and involved with Steven’s Hope in several ways since 2005.  He served as Chairman of the Board from June 2013 through 2017. Jason is a Principal, Financial Advisor, and a Certified Financial Planner, TM of his own practice with Raymond James Financial Services, Inc., specializing in wealth management and retirement planning for individuals and corporations.  He has been in the financial industry since 2001 and holds a double concentration MBA from University of La Verne.  Jason is also nationally recognized by the Certified Financial Board of Planners and holds several securities and insurance licenses. Mr. Sgrignoli also serves as a Director of the Officer/Youth Program for the Upland Police Foundation since 2007 where he assists in activity scholarships for children in the Upland area. Mr. Sgrignoli resides in Alta Loma with his wife, Christine, and two daughters.

 

Associate Board Members

Rolando Gutierrez, Lion Marketing

 Rolando has been in Marketing for 17 years. He loves all things design and is passionate about leveraging his marketing skills to help Steven’s Hope reach more audiences. He plans to work with Steven’s Hope to establish the marketing guidelines that will set the foundation for all future marketing. Rolando currently resides in Alta Loma, CA with his wife and son.

 

 

Richard Munkvold, Frontier Enterprises

Rich Munkvold joined Steven’s Hope in 2016 as an Associate Board Member. He is the Chief Financial Officer for Frontier Enterprises which is currently the largest private homebuilding company in the Inland Empire. He has held key financial positions in both private and public real estate companies since 1990. The owner of Frontier, Jimmy Previti, set the Steven’s Hope record in fundraising at one event held at his house in 2006 with over $120,000 in donations. His wife, Danette, has been volunteering with Steven’s Hope since 2006.  

Justin Johnson, Goosehead Insurance

 Justin Johnson started his insurance career in 2012 and has been helping clients better understand and better protect themselves with his Goosehead Insurance Agency. He was born and raised in Alta Loma and enjoys being involved within the community. Justin Graduated from Fresno State in 2007 and is still actively involved with donating time back to Sigma Chi’s undergraduates as a mentor & facilitator to help future leaders develop leadership skills and style. Mr. Johnson also serves as Founder and current President of the Inland Empire’s Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter. Justin has been around and supporting Steven’s Hope since 2013, he is a new addition to the associate board as of this year and is expecting to make an impact. In his free time, Justin enjoys off-roading, traveling, cooking, baseball, volunteering, spending time with his Girlfriend Julie and his St. Bernard Vino

 

Damon Santos, Banner Bank

Although born and raised in Los Angeles, Damon has made Rancho Cucamonga his home for the last 25 years.  He is so passionate of the great services that Steven’s Hope for Children provides that he has been supporting the organization for over 4 years and has been an Associate Board Member for the last 3 years.  Damon is US Navy veteran and has a Bachelors of Science degree in finance from California State University, Los Angeles.

 

 

Bobby Del Real, The Renken Company

Bobby Del Real was introduced to the Steven’s Hope mission at the There is Hope Luncheon in 2015 and has been involved with the organization in various ways ever since.  Inspired by a desire to contribute more to the organization, he joined the Associate Board in 2018 and is looking forward to being an integral part of helping families in need.  He works as Vice President of Real Estate for The Renken Company, a full service commercial real estate firm in Claremont, where he focuses on managing income producing properties for clients.  Outside of work, Bobby spends his time with his wife, Jenni, coaching their two son’s in various sports, and serving at church.  

 

 

Brett Strauss, Southland Data

Brett has been an Associate Board Member since 2013. He is currently employed as in-house counsel at Southland Data Processing in Upland. Brett has a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Arizona and a J.D. from the University of La Verne College of Law. He is passionate about the work Steven’s Hope is doing and in 2018 plans to introduce even more people to the organization than he ever has before. Brett and his wife Julie live in Claremont with their two children; Scarlett.and Jameson.
